DONATIONS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The Hopkins County YMCA has continued to deliver on its promise to meet the critical needs of our community through the coronavirus pandemic. Today, the needs are more urgent than ever.

During COVID-19, the Y has:

  • reached out to seniors who have been isolated
  • provided over 400 virtual exercise class options
  • provided free exercise equipment rental
  • served 100,000+ free meals delivered to children in our community

Through it all, we have kept our promise to serve!

The next endeavor we will tackle is ensuring that each child in our care has the support they need to exceed in school. School will look very different this year. Our staff has adapted their plans and even structurally changed their rooms to be as accommodating as possible to a learning atmosphere. Out of necessity we are expanding our Wi-Fi capacity so children have the opportunity to complete online school work while at the YMCA Youth Development Center. This will be a huge help to our working parents.

We know for each child to succeed they will not only need access to Wi-Fi but also a device. We will be purchasing devices that will be compatible with school materials. While these devices will be used for school specific work, we are considering the expansion of programs offered by the YMCA that would allow for multi-use of the devices.

To date, COVID-19 has caused the YMCA a loss of revenue exceeding $198,000. We have managed responsibly through this loss but need your continued support to provide crucial services to those in need.

In order to maintain our expected level of service we have made many changes and sacrifices. I would like to ask you to join me and other community members in making a contribution to the YMCA Annual Giving Campaign. Your gift is more critical now, than ever. Please take action now! Many members of the community have pledged their support. Will you?

YMCA VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

GENERAL VOLUNTEERING

YMCA branch volunteers help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Opportunities include greeting members, helping our administrative team and lending an extra hand where it’s needed.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN VOLUNTEER

Generosity comes in many forms, and it's often the best way to support important causes that matter the most in our lives. Each fall, we look for volunteers to lead fundraising teams that help the Association meet our Annual Campaign goals. 100% of the dollars raised toward the YMCA Annual Campaign goes directly to those in need in our own community.

SWIM PROGRAMS VOLUNTEER

YMCA swim programs teach safety, skills and how to enjoy water activities for a lifetime. Volunteers assist with lessons, swim meet timing and other duties.

CHILD WATCH VOLUNTEER

The YMCA provides child care for parents using the facility. Volunteers are an extra set of hands to rock a baby, or to play games with young children or lead an art project for our older kids.

SPORTS COACHES

Use your talents to encourage, guide and train young athletes at the YMCA by coaching youth sports including basketball, soccer, and T-Ball.
