School Age CHILD CARE AT THE YMCA
Overview
Licensed School Age care at the YMCA covers students ages 5-12 years old through Afterschool, School Breaks, and Emergency Closures. Our child focused programming ensures we meet students where they are, as we provide safe and secure care for out of school times.
After school
Our Afterschool programming is here to make the afternoons easy! While providing a hearty Super Snack, prioritizing gross-motor play, and offering homework help, we ensure students have the best possible experience. This care is offered until 6pm daily under the supervision of our CPR/First Aid trained staff. See below for applications and contact information.

Transportation is currently provided, based on availability, to the YMCA from:
- Grapevine Elementary
- Pride Elementary
- Jesse Stuart Elementary
Off-Sites, where students remain at their school, and we send the YMCA to them:
- West Broadway Elementary
- Hanson Elementary

School Break Care
Our School Break Care program fills in the gaps when Hopkins County Schools has prescheduled closures. This full day care start at 6:30am to 6pm provides Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack to students while offering programming such as: Field trips, cooking activites, arts/crafts, swim, gross motor play, STEM, and more!
The School Break Care dates for the 2026-27 school year are: October 5th-9th, November 3rd/25th, December 21st-23rd/ 28th-31st, January 18th, February 15th, March 12th, April 5th-9th, May 18th
Emergency Closure Care
Our Emergency Closure Care is subject to availability on days in which Hopkins County Schools has an unscheduled closure due to snow, flooding, ect. The hours of these days are communicated via social media and student communication portals on a case-by-case basis.
Enrollment Process
Inquiring families are required to submit a 2026-2027 School Age Application to the YMCA Kid's Center. These are available below, via email request, or in person at the YMCA Kid's Center. For more information, please fill out the interest box below, call us at
